7 Ex-Champions on the grid for Sasol Raceday spectacular

The sixth round of the Hankook National Formula Vee Championship will take place on 18 August at
Zwartkops Raceway in Pretoria. It will happen during the Sasol Raceday which promises to be an action
packed day out! The entries for the day will have no less than 7 previous champions on the grid. Leading
them from the front should be current champion Jaco Schriks (Bean Child Coffee Merchants Rhema 2).
Joining him should be Gert van den Berg (BP Nantes Motors Rhema 2), Peter Hills (Lube Fusion Rhema
2), Symm Grobler (Rhema 2), Anthony Taylor (Rhema 2) and Alan Holm (Office Direct Rhema 2). As if this
is not enough, Lushen Ramchander (TRA Forza) who is currently lying second, will be out to get his
hands on the illusive Formula Vee Championship trophy. He has tasted success by being crowned
Formula GTi champion some years ago and scoring his first overall victory only two events ago.

The title race is really hotting up with Schriks having a 13 point advantage over Ramchander. He in turn
is 4 points clear of Van den Berg. This means that anyone of these three can potentially have the lead
after the first race of the day.

Peter Hills and Lendl Jansen (Bull Security Forza) will be out to redeem themselves after the tangle at
Midvaal in July, that left them next to the track in race 2. Brandon Hills (Lube Fusion Rhema 1,5) has
done some further improvements to his car and can easily join the pack in the front. Throw in Ross
Rugheimer (Rhema 2) who is strong at Zwartkops and Geoff Tugwell (Solarutility VMax) in the
magnificently self-designed and built VMax, and you could see the first 10 cars in an immense tussle all
race long.

Joining them again after a successful outing at Midvaal will be Vaughn Hills (DOE Parts Sting) and
newcomers Roy Douglas (Forza) and Dave Austin (DA Racing Rhema 2). Other regulars who will be in for
a great days racing will be Travas and Fred Rugheimer (Rhema 2) and Ben Pienaar (DOE Parts Rhema 2).
This should make for one of the biggest Formula Vee fields in some time and definitely lead to the
closest racing of the day!

Current Championship points:
1. Schriks (Bean Child Coffee / Cubed Coatings) 128 points
2. Ramchander (TRA) 115 points
3. Van den Berg (BP Nantes Motors) 111 points
